so recently ive just read my teacher's blogs and it gave me an interest to start up my own blog just to pass time by and to see how i am when im five or ten years older.
so within these past two weeks ive noticed a lot of small things that really stood out.
first thing id like to say is that elderly people offer fascinating conversations and i dont know why but theyre so believable. At work while i was on my break, i waited in line at the starbucks and i was behind an older man who greated me with a 'good morning' and we just started talking from there. turns out he has lived in hacienda heights since hacienda blvd was a two way dirt road and there was nothing but orange groves; the 60 freeway didnt even exist and although it seemed really hard to believe, i was still pretty surprised.
another thing id like to point out is target, the company with the target sign. usually, i love target, i have no idea why but i just have this strange attracting to those stores even though i dont really go all that much. so i just finished dinner and i just realized that we got new catalogs from stores and that id take a break from the computer and look through them. nothing really stood out and i generally skipped for the electronic section but when i was looking through the target catalog something really stood out to me. you know how when you look at models, you typically see the same type of people, theyre typically good looking people, people who know how to model, people who are famous, etc., you get my point. well i was looking through the target catalog and i came along the boys section and there were these two white kids standing next to each other, the one on the left was your signature american boy, but the one on the right had something about him, the boy on the right had down syndrome. this was about the first time i have ever seen a boy, or any person at that, with down syndrome in a catalog for a store so big. it really stood out to me and left a good impression on target for me. id like to imagine he had a blast modeling and hed be even more happy at home looking through that target catalog and seeing himself. but then again maybe im just stereotyping and he just looks like he has down syndrome.
Good job target.
